Faithful Messenger

For Thursday, September 6, 2007
Proverbs 25:13

Like the cold of snow in the time of harvest
is a faithful messenger to those who send him;
he refreshes the soul of his masters.

Here the key term is "faithful." The messenger is faithful in delivering a true rendering of the message, and in representing his masters favorably. A poor messenger distorts the message by either through inaccuracy of what he conveys or through his presentation, dishonors those he represents.

How good of a messenger are you for your Lord? Do you faithfully impart his message? Do you use Scripture well in its context or do you distort it by poor interpretation or application? To both believer and unbeliever, are you conscientious in conveying what Scripture says and only says?

How well do you represent your Lord? Do you convey Scripture accurately, only to distort it by your careless behavior? When you speak of the love of God, do you also convey that love by your life? When you deliver the message that God is holy, do you demonstrate your own concern to be holy?

You are a messenger. That you cannot escape being if you are a disciple of Christ. Pray that you will be one who is faithful in word and deed, one who blesses your Lord as the cold of snow refreshes the soul.
